Our Mr. Matsura
After arriving from Japan in the early 1900s, Frank Matsura settled in Okanogan County, Washington, where he became the region’s leading photographer. Through his distinctive self-portraits and collaborative images with settlers, immigrants, and Native peoples, Matsura built bridges across cultures and left a lasting legacy that continues to shape the community’s sense of identity and history.
